Farmhouse Chic Hot Pad

I have a slight obsession with crochet hot pads, pot holders, and farmhouse decor. There’s just something about the feel of a handmade hot pad that brings me so much joy. And I can’t help but to be drawn to the farmhouse decor I keep seeing all over Pinterest. I’m seriously thinking about redoing my entire house in it.

A few years ago, I made a pair of double sided hot pads to replace a set that I made when I was first learning how to crochet. I fell in love with the thickness of them and they are, hands down, the most used pot holders we have. I wanted to design my own hot pad/pot holder, but I wanted to make sure I incorporated the thickness that I’ve grown to love from my other ones. And as I said earlier, I’m also quite fond of the farmhouse craze that’s hit the design and decor worlds. It’s so simple, so clean, so fresh and I wanted to show that in this design.

The stitch I used for the front panel is called the Alpine Stitch. It may be a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze. If you need help, check out this YouTube video from Claudetta Crochet.
